Whether you've changed jobs, switched email providers, or simply want to use a different email address, Timewire makes it easy to update your account email securely.

This guide walks you through the complete process of changing your email address, including the verification steps that ensure your account remains secure throughout the process.

Step 1: Navigate to Account Settings

To begin changing your email address, you'll need to access your account settings. The process starts from your Profile screen.

Accessing Your Profile

  1. Open the Timewire app on your device
  2. Navigate to the Profile section (usually accessible from the main menu or bottom navigation)
  3. You'll see your current profile information displayed

Opening General Settings

  1. From your Profile screen, tap on "General Settings"
  2. This will open the settings menu where you can configure various app preferences
  3. Scroll down through the settings options until you reach the "Account" section

Note: The Account section is located at the bottom of the General Settings screen. You may need to scroll down to see it.

Step 2: Initiate Email Change

Once you've navigated to the Account section in General Settings, you'll find the option to change your email address.

Finding the Change Email Option

  1. In the Account section, you'll see an option labeled "Change Email"
  2. Tap on "Change Email" to begin the process
  3. A new screen will appear where you can enter your new email address

Entering Your New Email

  1. You'll see your current email address displayed at the top
  2. Enter your new email address in the provided field
  3. Double-check that you've entered the email correctly
  4. Tap "Continue" or "Next" to proceed

Important: Make sure you have access to the new email address you're entering, as you'll need to verify it to complete the change process.

Step 3: Verify Account Ownership

To ensure account security, Timewire requires you to verify that you own the account before changing the email address. The verification method depends on how you originally signed up for your account.

Email/Password Accounts

If you created your account using an email address and password:

  1. You'll be prompted to enter your current password
  2. Enter the password associated with your Timewire account
  3. Tap "Verify" to confirm your identity

Google Sign-In Accounts

If you signed up using Google:

  1. You'll be prompted to sign in with Google again
  2. Select your Google account when prompted
  3. Complete the Google authentication process
  4. You'll be returned to Timewire once verification is complete

Apple Sign-In Accounts

If you signed up using Apple:

  1. You'll be prompted to sign in with Apple again
  2. Use Face ID, Touch ID, or your Apple ID password to authenticate
  3. Complete the Apple authentication process
  4. You'll be returned to Timewire once verification is complete

Security Note: This verification step ensures that only you can change the email address associated with your account, protecting your account from unauthorized access.

Step 4: Complete Email Verification

After successfully verifying your account ownership, Timewire will send verification emails to both your old and new email addresses. This two-step verification process ensures security and gives you control over the change.

Verification Email to New Address

You'll receive an email at your new email address:

  1. Check your inbox (and spam folder) for an email from Timewire
  2. Open the email and click the verification link
  3. This confirms that you have access to the new email address
  4. The email change will be completed once you verify the new address

Cancellation Email to Old Address

You'll also receive an email at your old email address (or the email associated with your Google/Apple account):

  1. This email serves as a security notification
  2. It informs you that an email change has been initiated
  3. If you didn't request this change, you can cancel it by clicking the link in this email
  4. If you did request the change, you can safely ignore this email

What Happens After Verification

Once you've verified your new email address, the change will be complete. Your account will now use the new email address for all future communications and account recovery purposes.

Account Updates

  • Account recovery will use your new email address
  • Your login credentials remain the same (unless you're using email/password)
  • All your timesheets, invoices, and data remain unchanged

Sign-In Methods

If you were using email/password sign-in, you'll continue to use the same password, but you'll sign in with your new email address. If you were using Google or Apple sign-in, your sign-in method remains unchanged.

Didn't receive verification email

Check your spam or junk folder first. If you still don't see it, wait a few minutes and check again. Email delivery can sometimes be delayed. Make sure you entered the correct email address.

Can't verify account ownership

If you've forgotten your password and are using email/password sign-in, use the "Forgot Password" option to reset it first. For Google or Apple sign-in, make sure you're using the same account you originally signed up with.

Want to cancel the email change

You can cancel the email change process at any time by clicking the cancellation link in the email sent to your old email address. The change will only be completed after you verify the new email address.

New email already in use

If the new email address is already associated with another Timewire account, you'll need to use a different email address or contact support for assistance.
